Toddler Full Wetsuit

Even the priciest toddler full wetsuit will not be able to protect the child unless it is cleaned correctly. It isn’t enough to just wash the garment however. To keep the skin warm even in cold water, being able to wash the clothes in the proper manner is necessary.

Unless the garment is cleaned suitably, the wicking and insulating properties of the garment will weaken. Here are the steps needed to clean these garments.

Required Materials

Fine mesh bathtub drain strainer
Coat hanger
Mild shampoo
Clean water
Garment cleaner
Bathtub or another container

Step 1

Position the bathtub drain strainer over the bathtub drain. Take off the drain plug and set the strainer over the drain. These strainers can be purchased in drug stores.

Step 2

When the drainer is in place, put lukewarm water in the bathtub.

Step 3

When the tub is filled with lukewarm water, put in a couple of caps of baby shampoo. Put in a capful of the cleaner into the mixture as well.

Step 4

Put the toddler full wetsuit in the water. Make sure it is submerged totally. Leave the garment there for several minutes. The minimum is 2 to 3 minutes. The dirtier the garment, the longer it should be kept there.

Step 5

Move the garment sideways with your hands. Shift it every now and then to get rid of the salt and sand. Repeat this as often as needed.

Step 6

Dunk the garment often to get rid of the dirt. Keep repeating this as often as possible.

Step 7

Flip the garment inside out. Use your hands to get rid of any excess debris and dirt present in the suit. If the water gets too dirty, replace it.

Step 8

When you are done, drain the tub. Allow the strainer to gather all the particles including the salt, rocks and other particles. To do the final rinsing, use lukewarm water. Rinse the garment as long as needed.

Step 9

Take the garment off the tub. Shake the garment to get rid of the additional water.

Step 10

Put the garment on a coat hanger. Allow the garment to air dry for at least two hours, preferably eight hours. When it has dried the garment may be used again by the child.

When you are done cleaning the toddler full wetsuit, throw away the contents of the strainer. Clean the bathtub. If the suit gets dirty again you just have to repeat the cleaning process.
